Mid Autumn Festival

Hey Newies

It is that time of the year again to bring out your lanterns and light the darkness of the night. Its the Mid Autumn Festival 08 and we at INS have an event that will sure to entice your taste bud.

We at INS are going to have a POT LUCK Party @ Edwards Hall Forsythe cellar starting from 7pm onwards. The details of the potluck can be found in the MAF poster above. We hope that everyone will be able to bring their favourite local dish to the event, be it chinese style, malay style or even indian style.

There will be a lot of fun old games like zero point, hopscotch, 5 stones and a screening of a malay-chinese movie called Sepet (squint eyes)

CULTURAL AWAKENING FESTIVAL

Hey Newies. Its that time of year again where the University is helping us set up a Makan and Drinking Stall @ bar On the Hill. Expect a lot of food and lots of fun from eating our delicacies. This year INS will be doing in conjuction with the Brunei students. Due to it being Ramadhan, we at INS had decided to postpone our stall timings to start at dusk! Details are as below:

Start of the normal event: 11am- 3pm

BUT OUR STALL!!! is at a different time!!!
Time: 4.30 pm onwards

INS-Ultimate Frisbee

Hey everyone. INS today organized an Ultimate Frisbee game. The games were held at Sports Field 1 and the turnout was good. We had 2 teams versing one another. The red team and the other team with no name!! Hehehe. It was good fun and an awesome workout for everyone. We hope everyone who came enjoyed the game as much as the people at INS do. For this round

Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, on behalf of INS, I want to thank you for joining us in celebrating Singapore’s 43^rd Birthday Celebration at Edwards Hall Cellar last Saturday. I am sure all of you had a great night that was filled with fun activities, prizes and scrumptious authentic Asian food and desserts food prepared by our chefs.

Firstly, we would like to thank the great support and sponsors from Singapore and Newcastle. They are, Singapore International Foundation, Singapore Tourism Board, Singapore High Commissioner, Overseas Singaporean Unit, Thara Thoong Restaurant, BB's café, Priceline Pharmacy, Woolworths ‘The Fresh Food People’ and Gloria Jeans Café.

Secondly, we would like to thank our friends who have helped us throughout the event. Frank, Leonard and Jiayi for packing the massive amount of door gifts, Sharinah for lending her cookeries, Peter for the amazing sound system, Sivan for booking the function room, Anthony for being the cameraman, Qunfeng & Brendan serving up the piping hot food from the stove out in the cold. Asila & Kavi for the curry and rice, Ika, Ridzwan, Ros & Vincent for the bread pudding and agar agar and Eva for the muah chee.

Lastly, we would like to thank the Vice President of MYSUN, Ehsan & Secretary Cherlyn for gracing this joyous occasion.

Without all of them this event would not be made possible.

National Day Dinner 9 August

Hi everyone Welcome to a new Semester over at The University of Newcastle. We at INS hope that you had a good semester and for those NEWBIES that arrived this semester, we at INS welcome you.

Back to our fun events. This semester we have a number of events lines up. First up is our Singapore National Day Dinner 2008 which is going to be held at Edwards Hall Cellar over at campus. Its going to be fun, lots of food and the most important thing, CHEAP (We mae it cheap because we are students too)

Time: 6.30pm-10.00pm
Cost: $10/person

Please RSVP by 7August(thursday) as we need to cater for all people. Please note that our food is all Halal.

So Don't think about what you are going to do next saturday. Just join us. We reckon it will be much better food than in Hamilton or Darby Street.
