hope everyone had a GreAt National Day 2007 I know guys @ the CLub INS National Day Dinner 2007 had : ) right people? SiNGAAAAAAAA . . . . . . PURAAAAAAAAAAAAAA(milk). hmmm i think my side was loudest whichever that was . . . hahaha : )
Dinner started with a long queue at the entrance of Silver Dolphins @ Cardiff Panthers. A good sign for Us, but apologises for the people who had to wait awhile : P as well to Eeleen and Michael who has had their evolutionary course fast tracked, morphing into cephalopods, collection entrance fees, registering members, stamping arms and distributing door gifts at the same time : P
Dinner started less than more on time, hampered by the super villian know only as johnathan choong. Esteemed guest from round the globe(Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, India, Malaysian, Vietnam, China, Korea, and of course Aussies and Singaporeans) starved as they packed their plates with Silver Dolphin's rich spread, while waiting for the last bus commandeered by Lawrence and Commodore Tiew to bravely roll in thru the time and space dilational field.
Guests were warmly greeting my the CLub INS presidential duos HRHs J. and J., Cs, before being invited to rise to the occasion for 'Majula Singapura' and Pledge, ensued by a'live' reproduction of scenes from the Serengeti.
Trival Trivia was next on the schedule, where Zhaowei launched into a series of questions and enlightened us on fun(some less) facts about Singapore we've always taken for granted. Like "Everyone knows Temask Corp . . . Singapore was once know as Temask, anyone knows what temask means? huh. . . huH . . HUHHHHHHH?(Z.W. Soh. (2007) "What does Temask means?" in National Day Dinner 2007. Silver Dolphin: Cardiff)"
sooooo in case you didnt know, Temask means "sea-village", our first president - Yusof Ishak, Singapore splitted from Malaysia and gained independence on 9 August 1965. (There you have been enlighten.) Trivia was followed by a stampede of grazing wilderbeasts.
Eating spice mace and everything nice has been long establish culture even amidst the perpetual 30-33 degrees weather. To give Singaporeans what was believed to be an unfair advantage, next on the agenda was a Chilli-Eating Competition. Rebecca, Australia's mid-weight champion however, promptly put us in our place polishng off two chilli-padis in macro-secs before launching in to a 90min 'Pink- I'm not dead 2007' concert . . . "I'm not Here for yoUR eNterTainMneT! yOU dUn rEallY wAnna mEss wIth Me to Night . . .(P!nk cited in R. ?(2007) "U & Ur Hand", I'm not Dead. Silver Dolphins: Cardiff), before collecting her trophy, an ice-cream maker sponsored by PriceLine.
Singapore, the island where the ocean meets the shore, the East meets the West, and historically Captain Babossa met Sao Feng, Pirate Lord of Singapore who holds the map to World's End, is also known not only for spicy, but also spunky(and sweaty) NS guys and festy fashion-savy gals. which of course brings to order the need for a fashion competition so we could strut our stuff, featuring the colours of the day, red and white.
Lucky for competitors, committee members were banned from participation, which would otherwise have undoubtedly been won by our exemplary mr, singapore personified.
While Mr Soh was given an enthusiatic (cold)blanket party, the heat was on for the other contestants who doned subjective variations of the national colours. It was a returned to the jungles: sexy and salutry, cat walking, forbidden fruits, gawking, wolf-whistling, head twirling - but mere mortals, practically everyone unconsciously gravitated towards the centre stage as the competition climaxed on to its final bouts.
